BRIGADIER GENERAL RONALD G. NOLAND

Brig Gen Noland was appointed as commanding general of the 3rd Brigade, Alabama State Defense Force in April, 2002.  He received a BS and Masters Degree from LSU and earned a Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is retired from the College of Education, Auburn University and is currently on the faculty of the Division of Teacher Education, Spring Hill College.

 

BG Noland received his commission through the AFROTC program at LSU and served on active duty in Massachusetts and Yokota, Japan. His Air Force Reserve duty assignments include the 908 TAG, Maxwell AFB, 928 TAG, NAS, New Orleans; 926 TAG, Keesler AFB, 14th AF, Dobbins AFB; State Preparedness Liaison Officer-The Adjutant General-Mississippi; SPLO-TAG-Alabama. He retired from the Air Force Reserve as a colonel (06) with 30 years of service. His military career fields are administration and personnel, education and training, military plans, disaster preparedness and command.  Other service responsibilities included Air Liaison Officer to the Air Force Academy, Blue and Gold Officer- US Naval Academy, Alabama Wing-Civil Air Patrol, Commander-Lee County CAP Squadron.

 

Military leadership experiences include past president, Auburn Air Force Assn;  past president, Plains Council-Reserve Officers Assn; past vice president-Alabama Reserve Officers Assn; board of directors-Mobile Chapter, Military Officers Assn of America; member Mobile Area-Employment Support Guard and Reserve

 

Professional Military Education include completion of the Air Command and Staff College, the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Air War College, National Security Seminar, and the Senior Officers Professional Military Education Course.  BG Noland was selected as the 14th Air Force Outstanding Disaster Preparedness Officer in 1979. His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 clusters), Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Organizational Achievement Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Ribbon (1 cluster), National Defense Medal, Armed Services Reserve Medal (2 clusters), Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon (4 clusters), as well as several ribbons from the 3rd Brigade, ASDF.

 

He is married to Monetta Moak Noland. They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
